Burden / Carcass / Light

I carry the weight of a self
That keeps multiplying
A burden bearing its own echo.
Where the remnants fall,
Circles of hunger gather.
Where the body of a moment lies,
The sky darkens with wings.
Vultures of memory,
Vultures of culture
Picking the bones
Of what we tried to build.
Shadows dressed in brightness,
Leading blind hands into mirrors.
Light wearing the mask of light,
Darkness painted in white
A spectrum of deception
Softening at the edges.
I chase the dissolving horizon,
Sunsets slipping down the spine
Of an endless boulevard
Always almost reaching,
Always almost gone.
